It’s long been a mystery why the French, who eat a diet high in calories and fat, typically live longer and healthier lives than Americans — now we know it may be that they drink so much wine that’s the answer.
This phenomenon is no coincidence. It’s resveratrol that most people now feel is the key to the mystery. Produced by some plants to guard against infection, resveratrol is one of the most powerful antioxidants you can find.
The only thing that was confusing in terms of the French Paradox is that it didn’t appear the French were getting enough resveratrol from their diet alone.
In nearly all cases in the lab, administering resveratrol produced benefits basically without fail. The mice who were given resveratrol had more energy, were more “muscular” (as far as mice can be, I guess), and lived longer.
But wait, there’s more…
For example, a group of mice who had been genetically engineered to have diabetes had their blood glucose levels moderate to just slight above normal after taking resveratrol.
No one was willing to go so far as to claim they had found a cure for diabetes, but those results were so shocking that they decide to really start testing this oh humans.
And now the internet is getting into the mix. I’m sure you’re at least aware of the glowing reports that have been describing resveratrol as a true wonder drug that will change the world.
Is all this coverage deserved?
It just might. But it would be pretty difficult for any supplement to live up to the extreme hype surrounding resveratrol. I’m not telling you something you don’t already know, but a magic fountain of youth doesn’t exist.
But maybe, when all is said and done, we might all agree that resveratrol is as close as we can get.
It’s definitely worth checking out as far as I’m concerned, especially because it will only take a few minutes. Because they’re classified as a “nutritional supplement,” resveratrol, like other supplements, aren’t subject to things like “drug purity laws.”
When you buy resveratrol, just as when you buy any supplement, you simply need to put a few safeguards in place to make sure what you’re getting is quality. There is currently no way to organically synthesize resveratrol; it’s all harvested from plants, and that harvesting process takes time and effort. Which means that resveratrol supplements tend to vary in quality, along with their price.
I’ll address this next question before you even ask — it would be nearly impossible, unless you were a legendary alcoholic, to get enough resveratrol just from your regular daily food and drink. Resveratrol is most concentrated in red wine, but even with that you’d have to drink about liters a day.
So supplementation is going to have to be the way to go. But how do you choose the right resveratrol supplements in the first place?
Look for resveratrol supplements that are relatively, if not wholly, free of fillers. Because resveratrol breaks down at both high temperatures and under bright light, it’s also worth it to look for indicators that the supplements are kept in the appropriate light, heat and humidity conditions.
The very first thing I would suggest you do is head over to this resveratrol supplements review page, where you’ll find constantly updated reviews. You’ll also find some great videos there that will show you how to get quality resveratrol supplements on a FREE trial basis. In the end it will probably save you a lot of time and money.
Just to sum up, whichever resveratrol supplements you choose to take, understand that it’s only a part of a health maintenance system. Don’t ignore things like exercise, eating the right foods, and paying attention to your psychological health.
Resveratrol isn’t a blank check that allows you to abuse your body with an unhealthy lifestyle. Can it help? According to the experiments, yes, it can. But it can’t undo EVERYTHING if you choose to abuse your body in other ways.
