How did we as a people get to the point where we spend billions of dollars annually on cosmetics and it became the social norm for women to wear cosmetics everyday Assuredly a female way back in history did not simply wake up one day and decide to apply eyelashes, lipstick, eyeliner, foundation, and rouge all at once. No, it was, like many things, a culmination of happenings from past times.

The Egyptians were the first to use cosmetics. That was four thousand years ago. Good hygeine and looks were terribly serious to the people of Egypt. Egyptians had the belief that the appearance had a direct juncture with the constitution of the soul. They attempted to constantly appear neat and smell pleasant. And with a society who values their appearance, you are invariably going to have humans who are going to attempt to stand out. The Egyptians, being the inventive culture they were, used cosmetics for reasons that were even smarter than just trying to look great.

Mesdemet was the most original kind of eye shadow- a combination of copper and lead ore. The dark hues they believed would ward off evil eyes from their own. It was also a great cleaner and bug deterrent. Kohl was a dark substance that was put on around the eyes in an oval shape. Kohl was a combination of lead, ash, ochre, copper, and burnt almonds. To further enhance their appearance, Egyptians would apply a mixture of water and red clay to the cheek area. They would also paint their nails shades of orange and yellow with a chemical called henna.

As different groups of people began to interact with each other more often, the art of cosmetics was adapted by the Greeks from the Egyptians. They would color themselves a pale hue with a base that had lead inside. This proved lethal more than once. As the Romans began to pick up the cosmetics habits, the pursuit of beauty became less about practicality and turned into much more exotic routes. The Romans would adorn their nails with a combination of sheeps blood and cooked body fat. An ancient Roman citizen once said, A woman without paint is like food without salt.

The cosmetic trade is a huge business around the globe that produces billions off customers every year. Probably every and each one people use a range of cosmetic product like soaps, body cleansers, moisturizers, and make-up on a daily basis. After all, in line with a 2004 study conducted by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, ladies use a median of 12 cosmetic products a day. When we are applying these products on and all around our bodies, we have a tendency to’re most likely not considering the tearless shampoo we tend to have in our hands as a possible danger to our health. Shockingly, recent studies have shown {that a} massive share of common household cosmetic products {that a} heap folks in all probability have in our homes right currently contain a substance which will be harmful to our health and cause cancer.

1,4-Dioxane may be a petroleum-derived contaminant that is regarded as a probable human carcinogen consistent with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. And in keeping with the National Toxicology Program, it’s a known carcinogen in animals. It’s listed on California’s Proposition 65 list of chemicals that are either suspected or known to cause cancer and birth defects. 1,4-Dioxane is a byproduct that appears during the producing of cosmetics. Though it will simply be taken out throughout the manufacturing process for pennies, it’s often not. The Food and Drug Administration does not require companies to list it as an ingredient on their labels because it is created throughout the manufacturing process.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t finish there. Jeanne Rizzo, R.N., the chief director of the Breast Cancer Fund and a founding member of The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics stated, “Regrettably, 1,4-Dioxane contamination is just the tip of the iceberg…As a result of the FDA does not require cosmetic product to be approved as safe before they’re sold, companies will put unlimited amounts of toxic chemicals in cosmetics.” Incredibly, the FDA has no legal authority to need safety standards on cosmetic makers and has only been in a position to ask companies to get rid of the chemical on a volunteer basis.

The FDA has known about 1,4-Dioxane since 1979 and has given terribly delicate tips and suggestions to makers that their merchandise should not contain greater concentrations of 1,4-Dioxane than 10 ppm, or parts per million. Even with this lenient guideline, some 15% of the products tested exceeded this limit. A number of the merchandise that contained the highest level of 1,4-Dioxane that were tested included: Clairol Herbal Essences Rainforest Flowers Shampoo, Oil of Olay Complete Body Wash with Vitamins, Johnson and Johnson’s Watermelon Explosion Kid’s Shampoo, Hello Kitty Bubble Bath, Disney Clean as a Bee Hair and Body Wash, and Gerber Grins and Giggles Mild & Mild Aloe Vera Baby Shampoo.

If this can be alarming to you, beware, as a result of the list doesn’t end there. Till the cosmetics business is additional regulated, consumers should exercise caution whereas shopping. A larger knowledge of ingredients and their effects can keep you and your families safe.

When reading acne product reviews, you must be very selective. Using the wrong medications could make your breakouts even worse. Make sure you really evaluate all aspects of a review before doing anything. You need to know what type of acne the treatment is intended for. You also need to know whether the treatment is preventative or heals existing breakouts. You also need to determine whether you can live with the side effects.

We have put together this list of different acne reviews with this in mind. Some of the products are really good. Some consumers really seem to think they are amazing. Then some are just really bad. See our acne product reviews so you can check to see if your acne treatment made the list.

The Best

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash:
This is an affordable and very good product. It doesn’t matter what degree of acne you have to use this product. The wash removes the oil. You should wash twice a day. It may leave your skin a small bit dry. However, this was easily corrected with an oil-free moisturizer. It only took about a week for users to notice improvements. This happened over a period of time. However, totally clear skin is not always achievable for everyone by just using the wash. If you have severe acne, though, this will make a noticeable difference. You will be able to clear up mild to moderate acne with the wash.

Proactiv:
This acne treatment was put in our stars acne product reviews because it works like a charm. Many users believe in Proactive, not only the stars in the commercials. But there are some very mixed reviews about Proactive. Mild to moderate acne is easily treated with this product. But bad acne might not respond so well. Proactiv kills bacteria that stays in your pores and causes acne. This is pretty effective and relatively fast as long as there are not too many bacteria to handle. If you have severe acne this product may not work. Your skin may be clear but you still have to use this product or the bacteria will come back.

Stinkers

Clear and Continuous Control Acne Cleanser:
This is a very good facial cleanser. I like the cool, tingly feel you get when washing your face. However, its not very good for acne. While it felt wonderful, there were little to no effects. This product seems to work on those who get regular breakouts and not acne. This product made our “stinkers” list because it does not live up to the “acne cleanser” part of its name.

Murad Acne Treatments:
Murad has a fantastic line of cosmetics and beauty company. But, they probably shouldn’t have made acne products. People who have used this acne treatment have reported that their problems became worse. They do have a money-back guarantee, but you might have to deal with some pretty serious image issues while you wait for your refund. If you want to try this product, just use it carefully.

There are many more acne treatments available. They were just the ones that really stood out. These acne product reviews should help you find the right product for you.
