The 5 Tibetan Rituals are also called the Five Tibetan Rites and were made popular by Peter Kelder in his 1985 book called The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth. The book went into detail on the exercise regimen of Tibetan monks that caused them to live long and look young.
The 5 exercises have several benefits that include a younger look, better ability to sleep, getting up in the morning with vitality, and no pain. Other infirmities that might be relieved include arthritis, memory, vision, youthful look with little to no wrinkling, increased strength and endurance, and improved mental and emotional health.
Tibetan culture relies on seven major chakras that keep the body and mind healthy. They are in charge of the body’s endocrine system which contains all the glands that are stimulated in order to achieve proper health. If the endocrine system is in working order than all the organs will work together to promote good health and well being.
The seven chakras include one at the base of the spine called the root, one at the navel called sacral, on on the solar plexus, one for the heart, anothe for the throat, one called the third eye that is centered in the forehead, and the one at the crown or top of the head. These chakras are in coordination with all the systems in the body. They spin and the speed of that spin dictates the type of health a person has so if they spin fast health is good. The chakras must spin relatively the same in order to create harmony. If the heart chakra is sluggish you may have an issue with your heart. If the root chakra is slow there is a chance you can have spine related problems and should the sacral chakra spin out of tune your stomach may give you problems. All have to spin the same so that harmony is achieved.
These five rituals include some spinning movements, kneeling on the floor, lying down on the floor, moving the arms and legs or raising the body up on arms and legs. Some of these exercises are easy to do including the one where you spin in place with arms out to the more difficult one of lifting the entire body with arms and legs from a lying position. Some of these exercises are difficult for those that are not in good health. Always consult with a doctor before starting to do the exercises. You may be able to find a Yoga instructor, since the exercises are considered to be yoga, that will help you at first. These exercises should also be started out with care and slowly at first. Start with three of each and then progress to the recommended 21 times but do no more. The entire program takes 10 to 20 minutes to do.
Also be aware that some detoxification may happen when these exercises are done. The chakras are being cleansed and there may be some unpleasant after effects. Your intestines may be emptied, you may sweat a bit with some odor, and you may experience some flu like symptoms. These are extreme cases and probably won’t affect a healthy person. All in all the Five Tibetan Rituals will keep you healthy and young looking for a long time.
